Welcoming visitors safely and responsibly this festive season

Dear Waterfrontiers

We arrive at the end of a year unlike any other, and I hope that you and your families are keeping healthy and safe.

We are on day 259 since the introduction of a National State of Disaster, the impact of which has been devastating for so many of us.

Dealing with the virus and a possible second wave remains challenging, as you will know. It’s more important than ever that we remain vigilant and put processes in place to keep our visitors and customers safe. If we fail to do this, we will almost inevitably find ourselves back in stricter lockdowns, which would be catastrophic for all of us.

I am convinced that the interventions we have put in place so far to protect our neighbourhood and our livelihoods have been the right ones. If we stay focused, we will get through this period to thrive again as the country’s leading tourist destination and inspiring neighbourhood.

Over the next few days, we will welcome an increasing number of visitors to the precinct for the annual festive season break. We have done all we can to implement procedures to safeguard them across the Waterfront’s public areas, and I have shared the various interventions with you before.

Our restaurants, stores and attractions are spaces that will see increasing number of people in limited spaces and proximity to each other.

Visitors will and should expect to see the highest standards of safety protocols in action. Please may I urge you all to ensure that you and your staff are well prepared. Staff should continue to wear their masks, maximum occupancy should be displayed and adhered to; and where queues present, we ask that you proactively monitor social distancing norms.

The Waterfront has led by example by becoming the first tourist destination in the country to earn the World Travel and Tourism’s Safe Travel Stamp. We must thus take the lead in building the trust and confidence of our visitors during what we hope will become a busy trading period for you.

Thank you for the constructive engagements we’ve had during a very trying period for all of us. I am optimistic that while trading may be challenging at the moment, we will achieve a positive recovery in the new year – particularly if we work closely together.

We are in this together. If there is any way that we can assist you, please don’t hesitate to contact any of our management team.

I wish everyone the best of health, and the very best for the festive season.

Sincerely

David
