Meet Lalela (Life-Changing Art) Lalela, an award-winning NPO, provides educational arts for youth from under-resourced communities to spark creative thinking and awaken an entrepreneurial spirit. Since the launch of its arts-education programme (working with low-fee or no-fee schools and other youth development organisations) in Imizamo Yethu, Hout Bay in 2010, Lalela now reaches across Southern Africa. Art is one of the first subjects to suffer in schools with resourcing challenges. But we believe in the transformative power of the arts to set up children and communities for long-term success and wellbeing. A story with many layers Visit the back of the letter P to see Lalea’s artistic interpretation. The topographical fingerprint of our Cape contours is an inspiring backdrop for the many possibilities and promises that people embody. That’s why this letter proudly hosts the self-portraits of young artists from Lalela.
