Melvill & Moon Safari Equippers and Suppliers – the choice of all pioneers and adventurers in and out of Africa, is a family owned business. Melvill is a name rooted in a rich history of military and Safari endeavors, together with that of a colourful ancestor Major Harry J Moon, provides great inspiration for the company.
“Laudator Temporis Acti” which loosely translated means “in praise of an age gone by” – harking back in particular to the heyday of the grand East and Southern African Safari era, circa 1900 to 1940. The Melvill’s maintain this to be not only their company motto and design ethos, it is the heart and soul of everything they do.
All our products are handmade in Africa and our designs based on many old Safari and Military campaign lines conveying a passion for bygone era when things were made to last. The company instils a passion for handsome craftsmanship and quality local materials, always authentic and natural. Our especially woven 100% Cotton Canvas, oiled bovine leather and solid brass is used to make most of our Safari luggage and accessories, Campaign Furniture, Leatherware and the ever popular heavy duty washable Canvas 4×4 & bakkie car-seat covers.
