24 Nov 2023 WATERFRONT FESTIVE KICKS OFF WITH THE REVEAL OF A NEW LANDMARK TO WELCOME VISITORS TO THE CITY This week we kicked off the festive season with our CEO David Green, joined by the Mayor of Cape Town, Geordin Hill-Lewis taking the wraps off a new destination marker for the city in the heart of the Waterfront as well as showcasing new pedestrian walkways, shopping areas and Joy From Africa to the World, the Waterfront’s annual campaign that celebrates local creativity through festive decorations. Joy from Africa to the World back to showcase best of city’s creative talents Now in its fifth year, Joy from Africa to the World presents a groundbreaking fusion of creative innovation, compassion, and responsible tourism, showcasing the potential for sustainable success. This year’s theme: Between the Mountain and the Sea is a collaborative effort of more than 20 local teams of crafters, designers, and artists who have created beautiful pieces made from sustainable materials which are all currently displayed across the V&A Waterfront neighbourhood. Cape Town now proudly stands amongst world-class cities such as Toronto, Amsterdam, and Budapest, boasting its own unique welcome marker at the country’s leading tourist destination. The illuminated Cape Town sign located at the Quays District, outside The Alfred. The distinctive “Cape Town” sign integrates 3D representations of the contours our eight iconic mountain peaks. Drawing inspiration from the intricate patterns found in Mother Nature’s fingerprint, these contours symbolize the myriad layers and rich diversity inherent in Cape Town. Click here to read more.
