Footfall update

The final quarter of the year came with many positives as it is usually a busy time of year and this time benefitted from lower levels of lockdown restrictions.

At the Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre, December footfall was almost double that of November because of the school holidays, traditional festive shopping, and restaurant activity with 1.8 million visitors recorded for the month. Watershed saw a 54% increase in December due to domestic tourist numbers visiting the nearby attractions, including the kids’ favourite, the Aquarium.

Overall, our 2021 visitor numbers trended upward at 15 million visits, a 9.5% increase compared to 2020. With the opening of international destinations and the return of international flight and cruise travel as well as the continued rise in vaccinations and lowering of covid restrictions, we’re looking forward to improved trading conditions for the rest of 2022.
