Neighbourhood News Update: 09 December 2022

As the V&A Waterfront gears up for its traditional festive season, free of the restrictions of the past two years, it is once again partnering with local artists and crafters to present a visual spectacle of décor installations that will give visitors a warm African welcome.

Joy from Africa to the World, now in its fourth year, continues to grow as a source of inspiration and a call to action for visitors and tenants alike to act responsibly and safeguard the environment. This year the call-to-action is built around the theme of nostalgia, reflecting a moment in time when the world is yearning for a return to happy, simpler times. Read more here.

Monthly footfall update

The V&A sees positive year-on-year growth due to a strong period around Black Friday

November’s biggest shopping event contributed positively to our foot traffic compared to previous Black Friday with visitors capitalising on the entire week and doing their festive shopping. The rest of the property continues to see positive numbers thanks to the recovery of international visitors and good weather.

The rolling 12-month figure is slowly growing upwards and is currently at 20.4 million visits in comparison with the previous 12-month period which represents a 35.7% increase on the previous period. We are now seeing a 77.1% recovery when comparing to the last normal period rolling 12 months.

This is the first festive period post covid where restrictions have been completely lifted and we look forward to a busy season with families taking part in all our planned activities for the holidays.
