V&A WATERFRONT PARTNERS WITH THE LITTERBOOM TO TACKLE PLASTIC WASTE

With more than 8 million tons of plastic waste ending up in our oceans, our marine wildlife faces real danger. The V&A Waterfront’s SOLVE Plastics and Innovation and Circularity Challenge is part of a movement of change and will be brought to life by the Litterboom Project. The organisation trains people in communities who face severe plastic waste problems to find solutions using interception, education, and innovation. Read the full announcement here.

WATERFRONT SHOPPERS GIFT LOCAL CHARITY

From left to right: Maria Sikaundi: Director – The Homestead; Nolubabalo Mpikashe – Social worker: The LaunchPad CYCC (The Homestead’s Transitional Programme); David Green – Chief Executive Officer: V&A Waterfront; Yumna Mathese – Social Impact Manager: V&A Waterfront; Liezl Conradie – Programme Manager: The Launch Pad CYCC and Yizani Drop In Centre – The Homestead.

Last month, the V&A Waterfront donated R100 000 to The Homestead. Over the festive season, shoppers contributed just over R90 000 as part of the annual gift-wrapping service, with the Waterfront making up the total.

The Homestead aims to help street children rebuild their lives, and to provide prevention and early intervention services to children and families in disadvantaged communities. With homelessness a major challenge in and around the city, we partnered with The Homestead in 2018, to help address these challenges.
