V&A Waterfront Take the Stage series is a platform for emerging South African musicians and musical ensembles to showcase their talents at V&A Waterfront. Experience these emerging artists live for a series of pop-up performances starting November 2024 until the end of March 2025 which are free for all to attend.
Odwa Bongo is a contemporary uHadi instrumentalist and vocalist, celebrated for his extensive vocal range and dedication to Xhosa musical heritage. A UCT graduate and Dean’s Merit List Award recipient, he has toured internationally with the Drakensberg Boys Choir and performed at the Standard Bank National Arts Festival. Recognized by The Wire as one of South Africa’s top LGBTIQ+ creatives, he has collaborated with Dr. Madosini, Camagwini, Zolani Mahola, and Morena Leraba. His project, the uHadi Experience, which restores dignity to South African Bow Music, has been showcased at WOMAD South Africa, Artscape, and The Baxter Theatre.
