V&A Waterfront Take the Stage Series is a platform for emerging South African musicians and musical ensembles to showcase their talents at V&A Waterfront. Experience these emerging artists live for a series of pop-up performances which are free for all to attend.

THE RIVERTONES, “Cape Town’s most loved Reggae band” who were invited by the government of Madagascar to perform at awareness concerts across the island, are a regular feature and firm favourite at festivals, corporate functions, markets, weddings, wine estates, theatre supper venues and restaurants in and around Cape Town. They also perform internationally with their upbeat, skanking, joyful, old school reggae sound and their message of “one love”. Founder member, Roland Nair, who made his stage debut at the age of 12, has performed in 15 countries to capacity crowds of 75,000 with the likes of Bob Marley’s band, The Wailers.

The Rivertones will have you grooving in no time to UB 40’s and Bob Marley Reggae favourites like “Redemption Song”, “Three Little Birds”, “One Love”, “No Woman No Cry”, “Stir It Up”, “Buffalo Soldier”, “Could You Be Loved”, “ Get Up Stand Up”, “Jamming”,  Red Red Wine, Kingston Town amongst others. Bob Marley, one of the most transcendent and inspirational musicians of all time, is the face of reggae music for many people and his smooth songs are an ever-present force in the soundtrack of life. Not only did Bob Marley change the face of reggae music, but he also inspired musicians and countless people around the world to embrace a way of life in search of enlightenment and to seek a life of peace and love … his music is a call for social justice to inspire and move people around the globe.
