V&A Waterfront Take the Stage Series is a platform for emerging South African musicians and musical ensembles to showcase their talents at V&A Waterfront. Experience these emerging artists live for a series of pop-up performances which are free for all to attend.
Nobuhle Ashanti is a young and upcoming jazz pianist from Cape Town, South Africa. From a young age Nobuhle’s been actively involved in the music industry through various youth jazz programs and projects.
Over the years, Nobuhle has performed on various festival stages: The Cape Town International Jazz Festival, the Beijing Tutti Music Festival, St Joseph’s Jazz on The Lawn, Jazz on the Rocks, Jazzathon Festival, The annual Cape Town Lights Festival, The Grahamstown National Youth Jazz Festival as the chosen pianist from the National School’s Big Band 2016 and the Bayimba Festival in Kampala, Uganda. She has recently undergone a Durban and Cape Town tour with band Heels Over Head.
In 2017 she has recorded and released her original material onto Soundcloud and YouTube. Nobuhle performs regularly specializing in her original compositions and styles of music she enjoys playing. Her music involves South African Jazz elements as well as modern modal jazz. Nobuhle
