Since 1974, Milton Academy’s jazz program—founded and directed by Bob Sinicrope has grown to include over 75 students involved in the study and performance of jazz with nine different jazz groups. Downbeat magazine has twice named Milton’s Jazz Combo the best high school jazz group in the country and Milton students have performed for Hugh Masekela, Sipho Mbuse, Desmond Tutu, and President Clinton twice at the White House. This will be their 13th South Africa Tour since 1992 when Abdullah Ibrahim invited the group to come to South Africa to perform. Milton cherishes its long standing and meaningful relationships with many South African schools and programs.
