V&A Waterfront Take the Stage series presented by MTN is a platform for emerging South African musicians and musical ensembles to showcase their talents at V&A Waterfront. Experience these emerging artists live for a series of pop-up performances starting November until the end of March 2022 which are free for all to attend.
Mark Williams is a 23-year-old aspiring musician from Mitchell’s Plain, born and raised in Cape Town. Mark is a guitarist, singer, songwriter, arranger, composer and inspired by people like Jimmy Dludlu, Pat Matheny, George Benson, Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Michel Camilo.
He joined the Cape Music Institute (managed by Camillo Lombard and Ezra Delport) in 2007. It is there that he completed a 2-year course in preparation for securing his place in both the local and international music industry. In the 2 years he received training in music theory, songwriting, music business, stage performance, band ethics, life skills, industrial communication, arranging, composing and music production. In 2009 he was chosen to represent the Cape Music Institute at the Norwegian Music Academy in Oslo where he attended some music theory clinics and jazz workshops.
