The coaching exchange aims to share knowledge and best practices between Skateistan and Waves for Change coaches/educators by visiting each organization’s sites. During the site visits, participants will participate in experiential learning at a sport-based education program and exchange locally with coaches and administrators.
The is aim is to improve the individual knowledge and skills of coaches/ educators and administrators to deliver high-quality programs, increase team-building skills of coaches/ educators and administrators and develop a community of coaches/educators across sport for development organizations.
The first phase of the exchange was held at Muizenberg beach with Waves for Change. The session at Battery Park Skate Park would form part of the second part of the exchange, where Skatesitan will run a skate clinic with approximately 15 candidates. Coaches ages 18 – 25 will participate in experiential learning in a Skateistan session for 2 hours delivered by trained Skateistan coaches. Coaches are trained in First-Aid and have experience delivering programs.
