Based in the picturesque city of Cape Town, Thandeka is a singer/songwriter whose entrancing voice is shaped by the likes of Anita Baker & Letta Mbulu. She is a quirky artist who is a wonder to watch live. With every note she sings, she takes you on a colourful journey filled with heart-gripping melodies. Featuring in Brasskap Sessions Vol 3 by McCoy Mrubata, Thandeka is cementing herself into the afro-jazz landscape of South Africa.
With Cape Town set as the backdrop for the beginning of her career, she is a familiar face to popular jazz spots in the Mother City incl. The Crypt, Jazz in the Native Yards & the CTICC. Joburg has been graced too with her presence, with performances at the Joburg Theatre.
For those who are into South African jazz and afro-soul scenes, you may have heard her on Fabric and Echoes of Sophia Town, albums by two bands she’s currently part of The Unity Band and The Pebble Shakers.
With more focus on her solo career this year, Thandeka is currently working on some pieces which will feature in the near future. Keep your eyes on her socials so you never miss a beat.
