Born in Johannesburg with roots in the Eastern Cape. Deslynn is a Cape Town girl by heart. A soul singer, songwriter and perfromer, Deslynn loves art.

A graduate of COPA in Cape Town where she majored in vocal performance under the guidance of Emily Bruce (Gold Fish). When asked about her gift, Deslynn accredits her musical prowess and passion to God and the influence of her father. The late Desmond Malotana was the founder, band leader and keyboardst for well-known 80’s ban, “Brenda and the Big Dudes” . He wrote and produced songs like “Promises” and the hit single, “Weekend Special”.

She released her self-titled EP, “Deslynn” in 2014. The EP is Deslynn’s first offering on record and enjoys success on local radio. “How” – a cinematic love ballad placed number 1 on the Hunters SA Top Ten (Heart FM) on 12 June 2014 where it remained for 2 weeks. The song was also ranked 8th in the Hunters SA Top 10 chart for the year 2014 while other songs on the EP dabble in reggae, soul and contemporary.

Deslynn released her much anticipated single tiitled “Black Love” in 2018 featuring multi-media artist Andy Mkosi, produced by Eugene Ackerman and composed by Yvan Potts.

Recently completed her week of recording at Redbull Studios (Cape Town) a collaboration between the two brands through which an EP will be released in 2019, featuring various local
artists.
