The City of Cape Town is excited to present the brand-new Festive Lights Switch-On Comedy Competition, lighting up the holiday season with humour! We’re searching for Cape Town’s next “Humour Heroes” – could it be you?
Open to aspiring stand-up comedians of all ages in Cape Town and surrounding areas, this competition celebrates our ‘People of Hope’. To enter, simply upload a 1-minute comedy video to your favourite social media platform using #CTFestiveLights and #CTFestiveComedy. Judges will select a top 10 to compete in a live laugh-off at the V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre on Saturday, 23rd November 2024, from 10:00. Our MCs and judges, Angel Campey, Stuart Taylor, and Lunga Tshuka, promise a day packed with comedy and entertainment . Finalists will showcase their creativity and comedic fl air in a unique showdown, uniting the community for a good laugh and a smile.
Beyond the thrill of performing, there are fantastic cash prizes to be won!
The first-place comedian will take home R10,000, with R5,000 and R2,000 awarded to the second and third-place winners, respectively. The top three comedians will also perform at the main Festive Lights Switch-On event at The Grand Parade and Adderley Street on 1st December from 16:00, as Cape Town offi cially lights up the festive season.
