We are excited to be hosting A Future of Hope Dance Competition presented by the City of Cape Town. Calling all crews from across the metropole to enter this great competition. The Winning crew walks away with R10 000 while runners up will receive R5000 for 2nd place and R2000 for 3rd place. That’s not all, the winning crews will go on to participate at this years – Festive Lights Switch.
On event on the 26th of November, Grand Parade. To provide a level of excitement to the competition. It is not only about performance, but also about providing skills and experience to our youth. Dancing has always been a form of expression of the inner self, a creative experience that provides jobs to millions out there. ENTER NOW

HOW TO ENTER: Age 12 – 35 years Groups of 2 – 10 dancers may enter Entrants to choreograph a 1.5min – 2min dance piece using proudly SA music Dance styles can include but not limited to: Amapiano, Gwara-Gwara, hip-hop or any other recognised cultural dance moves or combination thereof Entrants will load their videos to their own favourite social media platform eg Facebook, TikTok or Instagram pages and must include the hashtags: #CTFestiveLightsDance #FutureOfHope TAG @CTfestivelights
The top 10 finalist competing groups will receive e-mail correspondence about the Dance off details. The top 10 finalists will then compete at a dance-off at the V&A Waterfront Ampi-theatre on 19 November from 13H30 – where the public can experience their talent showcase Finalists making it to the Dance-Off, must be available on 19 November 2023 and performance on 26 November 2023. In all cases, the decisions taken by the judges are final and will not be open to discussion. All themes must be appropriate. Any act that contains profanity, suggestive sexual themes or violence will be disqualified.

Emily is a Youth Empowerment Expert with over 20 years’ experience in the space. Emily co-founded Amathuba Collective, offering extensive programmes to strengthen young people’s emotional and mental wellbeing.
Their passion to help youth to love themselves and grow into positive and confident humans has informed the V&A Academy approach. At the Academy she guides and oversees activities from an impact perspective to ensure we achieve measurable, lasting change in the young people and their hosting businesses.
Thabile in a seasoned HR Practitioner with a special focus on youth employment. She leads young teams and develops talent in administrative and compliance roles.
At the Academy she liaises with hosts, managers and supervisors to support the development of the young people and their ability to add significant value to their employers. She guides the administrative processes to ensure smooth and impactful implementation the Academy’s projects.
Brett leads the V&A Academy team and is responsible for strategic partnerships to create job opportunities for young people across the V&A Waterfront.
He focuses on enabling career paths for under-resourced youth in Cape Town’s tourism, retail, and hospitality sectors. Brett is passionate about supporting young people’s transition into the workplace and ensuring host businesses nurture their growth. He works to help businesses improve customer service excellence by developing young talent. Brett oversees the design and delivery of training programs, collaborating with employers, funders, and partners to create lasting, positive change across the V&A Waterfront ecosystem.
