New eateries coming in 2022

We’ve got some incredible new dining spots opening in 2022 – from a French patisserie and Joburg’s best Greek restaurant to the most authentic Indian cuisine, a premium bubble-tea destination, and an Asian establishment inspired by Japanese bars. It’s our way of bringing you awesome flavours from around the world.

Belthazar
Spectacular views of Table Mountain and the Waterfront harbour are only part of the reason to visit Belthazar Restaurant and Wine Bar. Another reason is its menu, with prime beef, seafood and wine on par with the best in the world. There are over 40,000 bottles of wine in its cellar, and it offers 200 wines by the glass. Belthazar’s grass-fed, grain-fed, wet-aged, dry-aged and organic meat options are all procured and cut by its in-house butcher, with fresh fish sourced daily. This is the place for lobster, prawns, langoustines and the restaurant’s famous tiger giants. Meat-lovers can enjoy South African game such as wildebeest, impala, kudu and crocodile.

Beluga
Beluga fine dining re-opens with a whiskey lounge, wine-tasting section, sushi conveyer belt and special dining area for celebrations and private functions. Visit this new Waterfront hotspot at the Cruise Terminal for a meal that makes you want to linger longer, with an outstanding harbour view that matches the impeccable service. Beluga’s Euro-Asian cuisine, fresh local seafood, tender South African meat and delectable sushi make this one of Cape Town’s most anticipated re-openings.

Mythos
Mythos was voted Best Greek Restaurant in the Best of Joburg Reader’s Choice Awards 2022, and it’s now making its way to our southern shores. Enjoy meze, baklava, mouth-watering lamb chops, yiros, moussaka and more. It’s the ultimate Mediterranean cuisine.

Now Now
Now Now makes eating while you shop delicious, nutritious and quick! Its breakfast and lunch menu is filled with globally inspired meals made from fresh, ethically sourced ingredients. Find breakfast pots, hearty bowls, healthy burgers and wraps, smoothies, egg buns and more, as well as coffee made from 100% African organic beans.

Paul
Paul’s proud French heritage dates back to 1889. This family-owned artisanal patisserie and restaurant is known for its impeccable service and warm atmosphere. Its French-style menu offers everything from breakfast to lunch and dinner, and treats for in between – all freshly baked daily.

Royal Tea
Royal Tea is a premium bubble-tea bar setting out to bring contemporary Chinese tea-drinking culture to South Africa. With a broad range of signature drinks spanning classic bubble tea to oolong-based cheese teas and fresh fruit teas, it has something for all tea lovers.

Seven Colours Eatery
Nolukhanyo Dube-Cele’s Seven Colours Eatery celebrates her culture through food. Chef Nolu’s quality home-cooked traditional South African food is inspired by her upbringing in the rural Eastern Cape village of Tsengiwe. The term “seven colours” is popular in many South African homes – a nickname for the meal served on Sundays and special occasions, which consists of red beetroot, yellow rice, multi-coloured vegetable dishes and browned meat, all packed onto the same plate. This delicious, nutritious and rainbow soul-food experience represents ideas of home, community and togetherness.

Sevruga
Featuring exquisite panoramic views of the harbour, Sevruga’s newly reopened and stylishly revamped restaurant is a romantic location for sunset meals overlooking the beautiful azure waters. Its tasty seafood and grill menu, loaded with Asian fusion flavours makes for a great day out with friends too.

Tang
Already a success in Nelson Mandela Square in Johannesburg, Tang will soon be giving Capetonians a taste of its Asian flavour. The luxury restaurant and bar is inspired by contemporary Japanese izakayas (informal bars) and the classic Cantonese eateries of Hong Kong.

The Raj Indian Restaurant
The Raj is more than just a meal out – it’s an experience. North Indian cuisine doesn’t get more authentic than this, with chefs hailing directly from India. Enjoy traditional tikka masala, vindaloo, korma and bhoona. All curries are available from mild to hot, with a selection of recommended biryanis and breads cooked in a tandoori clay oven. All of The Raj’s spices and basmati rice are imported from India, making this a meal to savour.

Tiger’s Milk
Tiger’s Milk V&A Waterfront is set to be the new inner-city hangout for after-work drinks and lunch-time meetings. This always bustling restaurant and bar has made a name for itself around the Cape, Gauteng and KZN. It’s now getting an additional home at the V&A Waterfront, bringing its ‘dude food’ of pizzas, burgers and grills to our hood. Pair this with locally brewed Tiger’s Milk Lager for added good vibes.
