Makers Landing Incubator Pop-Up Market

Our monthly Makers Market at the Cruise Terminal is a delicious addition to Cape Town’s food market scene. Traders include the latest incubatees forming part of the food-business development programme being run at Makers Landing. Come taste the unusual treats that these young entrepreneurs are dishing up.

AMMA’S CREAMERY by Jaynie and Ushir Bhoolia
This foodie family aims to pioneer a culture of plant-based dairy, hoping to be in national retail stores within a few years. Their cultured cashew butters and ‘cream cheese’ spreads are out of this world, and we’re sure that the paneer and ricotta recipes they are currently working on will satisfy even the most ardent dairy lovers.

CHARMING CHEF by Ayesha Juwaley
Ayesha’s sweet treats include profiteroles, bundt cakes, sweetie pies and more – all with her own unique twist to them. They offer a decadently whimsical taste experience of total indulgence.

HONEYCOMB EATERY by Lauren Baatjes
Founded on the premise that the enjoyment of a meal should not be limited by food intolerances, Honeycomb Eatery caters for office meals and cafeteria treats. The pop-up market allows Lauren to share her delectable offering with the public, with varied options for many dietary requirements.

KASI KUISINE by Thabisho Sechogela
Elevating the taste of home, Thabisho instils cultural pride through a cool take on African street food, showing people the versatility of the ‘kota’ (a quarter loaf of bread hollowed out and stuffed with yummy flavour combinations).

MONDVOL SOET by Elmarie Rosochacki
Premium sweet treats like nougat, biscotti and panforte, made from local, organic ingredients, are the ideal way to satisfy a decadent craving. Mondvol Soet really is a mouthful of sweetness.

SWEET AS PIE by Zanele and Kunal Matikiti
Tarts and sweet pies don’t get more flavoursome than this – neither do they get more artful. These desserts and tea-time treats are almost too beautiful to eat, and include a chocolate pastry tart with triple chocolate ganache, and a white-chocolate-and-burned-honey caramel tart, topped with honeycomb.

THE WRAPPER CO by Nafeesa Arendse
Totally dedicated to the wrap, the punchy flavours in each menu item will have you wanting to try them all, especially as they’re not the usual things you’ve come to expect from a plain ol’ wrap. Nafeesa hopes to have a food truck one day, and her market appearance is just the start to a much bigger dream.

WILD YEAST by Ilhaam Rahbeeni
Ilhaam’s nutritious sourdough products make family meals just that much more delicious. Crackers, cookies, pancakes, giraffe bread and more emerge from her oven. This Makers Landing incubatee has her eyes set on supplying retail stores in the future, so come be one of the first to have tasted her heavenly fare.
