In celebration of World Turtle Day, the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation supported a Trash Bash Beach cleanup this past weekend at Lagoon Beach. The cleanup was in support of Save A Fishie, an NPO who has kicked off their Coast2Coast cleanup series, where they’ll be doing daily cleanups along the coast for the next 7 weeks.

The overwhelming impact of ocean pollution, such as plastic, is seen daily at the Two Oceans Aquarium’s Turtle Conservation Centre. 71% of rescued turtles excrete plastic within their first week in care. In 2024 alone, 205 turtles undergoing rehabilitation had ingested a total of 1,306 pieces of plastic.

Beach cleanups are a simple but impactful way to get involved and help raise awareness about the effects of plastic pollution on marine life. Join the Two Oceans Aquarium for their monthly Trash Bash events, held every third Saturday of the month.

TIME OUT MARKET HEATS THINGS UP WITH NEW WINTER MENU

Yesterday evening, Time Out Market Cape Town hosted an intimate evening to celebrate the launch of its new winter menu. Guests enjoyed a warm and lively night filled with live music, good company, and a sneak peek of the market’s winter offerings.

Bringing together some of the city’s top chefs and restaurants under one roof, the market offers a snapshot of Cape Town’s dynamic food scene. “Time Out Market is all about showcasing the best the city has to offer,” said Time Out Market Manager, Russel Meyer.

Among the new winter dishes, Nosh Café served a creamy pea and lentil soup with rye bread and melted cheese. Kapoochka offered a local favourite with their popular chicken breyani, with just the right amount of spice. Barakat introduced a rich lamb shoulder kromski lentil curry with a side of rice, full of warm, comforting flavours. These are just a few of the newest additions that will keep you warm this winter.
