V&A Waterfront Take the Stage Series is a platform for emerging South African musicians and musical ensembles to showcase their talents at V&A Waterfront. Experience these emerging artists live for a series of pop-up performances which are free for all to attend.
Amy Jones
Amy Jones the young and hip singer/songwriter, born in Paarl, has had listeners throughout South Africa singing and enjoying her music since she professionally launched her career in October 2016 with the release of her first single called “Sunrise”. Ever since the track release of “Sunrise” the sun has continued to shine upon Amy and her bright future as she has risen to stardom in her own right.
She recently has one of her hits “Dance on my own” part of a Netflix series. Amy kept positive and creative during lockdown and released another HIT SINGLE, “I think I’m in love” a new song, letting us in on her life and journey a little more. The new song definitely has so many people grooving and singing along.
Jasmine Minter
Jasmine Minter is a 21 year old, born and bred Capetonian.In high school, she was a strong presence in the drama department and in matric received the award of dedication to Dramatic Arts, as well as a final result of 89%. Although she has been performing all her life and could do a one woman show of the Sound of Music since she was 6 years old, her passion was music. Since 2015, Jasmine has shared the stage with legends such as Prime Circle, David Kramer, Ard Matthews, Gavin Edwards, Majozi, Jules Terea and many more.
She has performed on stages like the Kirstenbosch Summer Concert Stage, the Waterfront Amphitheatre, and the Baxter theatre, and been part of festivals such as the Cape Town Folk n Acoustic Music Festival and the Cape Town International Jazz Festival. In 2020, she reinvented herself as Lemon Zest. This is the name she performs her original music under and in 2021, she has received over 25k streams on all music platforms.

Emily is a Youth Empowerment Expert with over 20 years’ experience in the space. Emily co-founded Amathuba Collective, offering extensive programmes to strengthen young people’s emotional and mental wellbeing.
Their passion to help youth to love themselves and grow into positive and confident humans has informed the V&A Academy approach. At the Academy she guides and oversees activities from an impact perspective to ensure we achieve measurable, lasting change in the young people and their hosting businesses.
Thabile in a seasoned HR Practitioner with a special focus on youth employment. She leads young teams and develops talent in administrative and compliance roles.
At the Academy she liaises with hosts, managers and supervisors to support the development of the young people and their ability to add significant value to their employers. She guides the administrative processes to ensure smooth and impactful implementation the Academy’s projects.
Brett leads the V&A Academy team and is responsible for strategic partnerships to create job opportunities for young people across the V&A Waterfront.
He focuses on enabling career paths for under-resourced youth in Cape Town’s tourism, retail, and hospitality sectors. Brett is passionate about supporting young people’s transition into the workplace and ensuring host businesses nurture their growth. He works to help businesses improve customer service excellence by developing young talent. Brett oversees the design and delivery of training programs, collaborating with employers, funders, and partners to create lasting, positive change across the V&A Waterfront ecosystem.
