Take the Stage Series provide a platform for emerging South African musicians and musical ensembles to showcase their talent, emerging artist for a series of free-to-attend performances at the V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre.

“Twenty-six-year-old Tankiso is a multi-award-winning actor, composer, singer, writer and dancer. She graduated from UCT in 2015 with a BA (Hons) in Theatre and Performance. In 2011 she was awarded the Arts and Culture Trust Performing Arts Scholarship.

Since then she has performed in various productions including the award-winning Marat/Sade, directed by Jaco Bouwer. In 2016, she played Thando in John Kani’s Nothing But the Truth, directed by John Kani. Tankiso co-wrote and performed in The Fall, an internationally acclaimed production which toured England, Australia, Ireland and America where it received the honour of being included in the New York Times critic’s choice list. The Fall also won The Fleur Du Cup’s Encore award in 2016 and earned a Naledi Theatre Award nomination in 2018. Most recently, she played Lydia in Marc Lottering’s Aunty Merle, the Musical, which earned her a Fleur Du Cup nomination for best-supporting actress. Her debut music show sold out at the Baxter theatre where she performed original works. Most recently, Tankiso was featured as a writer and vocalist on the song Inenekazi by electronic music producer and DJ Si_Jones. Her debut album is set to be released in 2020.
