The Afro-Fusion Mae Sithole Band brings pop, jazz, soul and funk to the stage with catchy beats and sing-along tunes that keep the audience on their toes. The lead singer, Mae Sithole, hails from Zimbabwe and incorporates world music in her songwriting. Her signature mbira playing has moved audiences from Geneva to Cape Town, with her moving tribute to her sister Samantha, titled, “Sunflower.” Together with the band, a multinational collective, Mae’s hepi drum resonates stories of loss and hope for a brighter future. The Mae Sithole Band has performed at the Harare International Festival of the Arts (Zimbabwe), the National Arts Festival (South Africa), La Fete de Musique (Geneva) and locally, at Café Roux (Noordhoek and Shortmarket St), and the Alexander Bar, Café and Theatre. The Band is credited for keeping the audience engaged; heart-gripping lyrics; and skilful instrumentals. Check out Mae Sithole’s interview on CNN Africa here.
