The Cape Town Massed Pipes and Drums comprises of the Drums and Pipes of the Cape Town Highlanders, the Cape Field Artillery Pipes and Drums and the Cape Garrison Artillery Pipes and Drums. These three bands form part of the Western Cape Army Reserve Force and operate/practice from the Castle of Good Hope and Fort Wynyard in Green Point.
The bands play separately but often combine for mass events in Cape Town and other events across the country like the SA Tattoo in Pretoria and the visit Cunard Queen Elizabeth cruise liner in 2018. The bands are composed of volunteer musicians who play and teach Highland favourites and other music in Cape Town and surrounds.
On 16 December 2019, Day of Reconciliation, they will be performing for the second time at the V & A Waterfront and will aim to make their performance an annual occurrence.
This year they will do a short march from behind Ferryman’s Tavern around a block or so to the Amphitheatre. Their performance will consist of 40 minutes of Bagpipe music as well as Highland dancing.
Time: 17h00 to 17h40 at the Amphitheatre, V & A Waterfront.
Bring your family and friends and enjoy the afternoon with us.
