Get ready to witness endurance, teamwork, and determination like never before! As the University of the Western Cape Rowing Club, we’re thrilled to announce our upcoming 48-Hour Ergothon – an epic rowing challenge where participants will row non-stop in shifts for two full days. This is not just a test of physical strength; it’s a celebration of unity, community spirit, and resilience. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete, a fitness enthusiast, or simply someone who loves supporting a good cause, the Ergothon promises excitement and inspiration for everyone. Crews will rotate around the clock on rowing machines, pushing their limits, and keeping the chain moving from start to finish. Each stroke we take represents our dedication towards a greater mission. Proceeds and donations raised during the event will go towards sending our crews to represent UWC at the Boat Race in Port Alfred this September!
WHY IT MATTERS:
Rowing is more than just a sport – it teaches perseverance, leadership, and collaboration. Attending the Boat Race is a major opportunity for UWC’s rowers to compete on a national stage. It contributes to the development of the club and the overall transformation of rowing within South Africa.
HOW TO SUPPORT:
Spectators are encouraged to stop by cheer on the rowers, try out the ergs and take part in a mini-competition or two. Whether you stay for five minutes or five hours, your presence fuels the energy and motivation of our rowers. Can’t make it? Donations are welcome via our “Back a buddy” page and spreading the word is just as valuable.
ABOUT UWC ROWING

We aim to make rowing accessible, empowering students through sport while representing our institution with pride. One of our missions is to also grow and transform rowing in South Africa.
Don’t miss out on your chance to be a part of this extraordinary event. Let’s pull together for a purpose!
