JOIN THE TRASH BASH BEACH CLEANUP WITH TWO OCEANS AQUARIUM Photo credit: Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation In celebration of World Turtle Day, the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation supported a Trash Bash Beach cleanup this past weekend at Lagoon Beach. The cleanup was in support of Save A Fishie, an NPO who has kicked off their Coast2Coast cleanup series, where they’ll be doing daily cleanups along the coast for the next 7 weeks. Photo credit: Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation The overwhelming impact of ocean pollution, such as plastic, is seen daily at the Two Oceans Aquarium’s Turtle Conservation Centre. 71% of rescued turtles excrete plastic within their first week in care. In 2024 alone, 205 turtles undergoing rehabilitation had ingested a total of 1,306 pieces of plastic. Photo credit: Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation Beach cleanups are a simple but impactful way to get involved and help raise awareness about the effects of plastic pollution on marine life. Join the Two Oceans Aquarium for their monthly Trash Bash events, held every third Saturday of the month. See the schedule of upcoming Trash Bash events, here.
