24 Dec 2024 THE EASIEST WAYS TO ACCESS THE V&A WATERFRONT THIS NEW YEAR’S EVE AND WELCOME IN 2025 As Cape Town prepares to ring in 2025, the V&A Waterfront is set to be the ultimate destination for New Year’s Eve festivities. With a stellar line-up of entertainment and family-friendly activities, visitors are encouraged to plan their journey in advance to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience. Whether traveling by car, bus, boat, or electric scooter, there are plenty of options for everyone to access the iconic V&A Waterfront precinct. MyCiTi Bus – The MyCiTi bus service provides a reliable, cost-effective option for reaching the V&A Waterfront. To manage congestion on the night, buses will skip Breakwater Boulevard with adjusted drop-off and pick-up points at the Cape Town Stadium on Granger Bay Boulevard and Silo District. Ride-Hailing Services – Services like Uber and Bolt will redirect drop-offs and pick-ups to the stadium area to streamline traffic flow. City traffic officials will manage the process, and riders will be directed to walk to this designated area when requesting a ride. Canal Access: Water Taxi – Visitors near the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) can opt for a scenic water taxi ride along the Roggebaai Canal to the V&A Waterfront. The water taxi service offers a relaxed and unique way to arrive while avoiding road congestion. Micromobility: Electric Scooters and Shuttles – The V&A Waterfront has recently launched its electric vehicle micromobility initiative in partnership with The Green Cab. This sustainable transport option includes Zbee electric scooters and Melex electric golf carts operating across fixed shuttle routes and orientation tours throughout the precinct. Walking and Cycling – For those staying nearby, the V&A Waterfront is easily accessible via well-maintained pedestrian and cycling paths, including those along the scenic canal. Drive yourself – For those who choose to drive to the V&A Waterfront, over 12,000 parking bays are available throughout the precinct. Visitors are advised to arrive early. The easiest exits at the end of the evening will be from the Dock Road parking, opposite the Apple iStore, Battery Park and Silo District which are closest to the city and freeways. For the most affordable options, we recommend checking out the various parking areas, as rates may vary depending on location and duration. You can choose to pay for your parking using cash, card, Zapper, SnapScan or EasyPay for your convenience. For more information, visit: https://www.waterfront.co.za/celebrate-nye-at-the-va/
