Pacific World marks start of cruise season in Cape Town

88 VISITS SCHEDULED, WITH 120 000 PASSENGERS EXPECTED TO PASS THROUGH CAPE TOWN CRUISE TERMINAL

Today’s arrival of the Pacific World cruise ship marks the start of the 2024-2025 cruise season. Originally built in 1995, Pacific World operates as part of the Peace Boat organizations fleet, a Japan based non-governmental organization promoting peace, human rights, and sustainable development. Used for educational voyages, global peace missions, and cultural exchange programs, the ship offers a unique travel experience that combines cruising with activism and learning.

2024 NEIGHBOURHOOD AWARDS PANEL OF JUDGES ANNOUNCED

Entries for the 2024 Neighbourhood Awards are now closed, and we cannot wait to reveal the winners at a prestigious awards evening on 25 September. From standout businesses to inspiring individuals and initiatives, these awards celebrate the dedication of our tenants and their incredible contributions to the V&A Waterfront neighbourhood.

This year, the 19 award categories will be judged by a diverse panel of curated judges, including members of the V&A Waterfront’s senior management, tourism-promotion experts, and consumer insights professionals.

With over 30 high-profile judges, each a leader in their field, with their experience and expertise, who will be helping us select the winners. Bringing credibility to the selection process and honouring the spirit of our community, ensuring that the awards truly reflect the best of what our neighbourhood has to offer.

MAKERS LANDING HOSTS ENGAGE TRADE AFRICA 2024

16 to 19 September 2024

Engage Trade Africa (ETA) is coming back to Cape Town, and will be held at Makers Landing.  The four-day event will connect local and international businesses, bringing together exporters, buyers, industry experts, and associations from South Africa, the rest of Africa, and the U.S.

You can find their refreshed store located behind the Amphitheatre, next to Cape Union Mart.

Lakrids By Bülow

Lakrids by Bülow, known for their gourmet liquorice and unique flavour combinations, has moved to a new spot! You can now find them on the ground level, next to Lindt.

Steelband Project Western Cape

The Steelband Project, founded by the visionary duo Liz Brouckaert and David Wickham, with a mission to bring the vibrant sounds of steelpan music to life. The project provides high-quality music education to young people, especially those from under-resourced communities and at-risk youth. Today, it nurtures 10 thriving steelbands, each with around 15 young musicians, coming together weekly to create harmony, build confidence, and transform lives through the power of music.
