The Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation’s Turtle Conservation Centre is honoured by the efforts of a group of open-water swimmers. Using the swim is symbolic of the threats to turtles in the wild, the swimmers will aim to raise R300,000 in support of the centres current and ongoing rehabilitation and conservation efforts with endangered sea turtles.

Swimmers will undertake an 11km ocean swim from Robben Island to Granger Bay’s future site of the Foundation’s new Turtle Conservation Centre as part of our Granger Bay development. The swim is scheduled to take place between 14 and 28 April 2026, with the final date to be confirmed based on weather conditions.

For the past three decades, The Two Oceans Aquarium has played a key role in marine conservation in South Africa, rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing more than 1,300 turtles. The new facility will expand this work, by increasing capacity and creating greater opportunities for public engagement.

Members of the public are invited to watch the swimmers along the Granger Bay walkway as they arrive at their endpoint. If you’d like to learn more about how to support, visit the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation website, here.
