SOLVE is calling on circular businesses across Southern Africa to step forward and accelerate their growth. Josephine Katumba (Gcwalisa), the Winner of the 2025 Circular Innovation Challenge. Now in its fourth year, the Challenge has evolved beyond a traditional innovation competition. Its focus is clear: to identify, recognise and elevate businesses already implementing circular economy solutions, and that are ready to scale their impact. Many businesses are already doing the valuable work of building circular systems. This Challenge exists to make those businesses more visible, more connected and better positioned to grow. A platform for growth, not just funding While the winning business receives a R250,000 cash investment, the Challenge’s core value lies in the visibility, credibility and access it unlocks. CHERRY CHANNELS PAUL THE OCTOPUS WITH FIFA OPENING MATCH PREDICTION Cherry, the Two Oceans Aquarium’s resident octopus, stepped into the spotlight ahead of the opening FIFA World Cup match between South Africa and Mexico, continuing the playful legacy of Paul the Octopus from the 2010 tournament. As part of her enrichment programme, Cherry was presented with both team options and made her prediction for Mexico, who went on to win the match.
