Apply for creative mentorship

The V&A Waterfront Artist Alliance is calling on fresh, young Cape Town creatives between the ages of 18 and 30 to apply for its newly launched arts-incubation-and-development programme. We’re on the hunt for talented people in fine arts, film, illustration and design to join our two-month mentorship initiative being run in partnership with Between 10and5 and creative partners Bubblegum Club.

“Artists need spaces to amplify their voice, and public places need art to expand cultural awareness, stimulate the imagination and provoke dialogue,” says V&A Waterfront Marketing Executive Tinyiko Mageza, who is excited to be offering the city’s young creatives such opportunities to grow and be known. “They need a safe space in which they can easily access information, develop essential business skills, and connect with other like-minded creatives, markets and industry leaders.”

Besides one-on-one mentorship from some of South Africa’s leading creative minds, including multi-disciplinary artist Atang Tshikare and Bubblegum Club founder Jamal Nxedlana, the Artist Alliance incubation programme will offer real business opportunities to the 10 chosen participants, building symbiotic relationships between Cape Town’s creative community and V&A Waterfront businesses. Incubatees will also attend group sessions with various industry experts, learning the skills of marketing, pitching for projects and how best to utilise social media.

Apply HERE by 31 July. (Artist Alliance Incubation Programme runs during the months of September and October)
