Who Gets The Crown? Our Visitors Decide In The People’s Choice Award.

Earlier this month, we invited the public to nominate the restaurants, stores, and small businesses they love most for our annual V&A Waterfront Neighbourhood Awards.

With hundreds of nominations, were excited to share the five most-nominated in each category and the finalists for the 2025 People’s Choice Award. This award is a true celebration of our neighbourhood’s most loved destinations – decided not by a panel of judges, but our visitors.

Voting is open until 14 September 2025, giving the public the final say in who will be crowned the People’s Choice Award Winners. Voters will also be be automatically be entered into a lucky draw to win a R5000 gift card.

RATE YOUR SERVICE AND STAND TO WIN A R10 000 SHOPPING SPREE

Our NeighbourFOOD Experience is about celebrating the food, the people, and the service that make dining in our neighbourhood unforgettable. By sharing their experience, visitors and customers help us recognise those who go above and beyond.

Participants can rate the service experience at participating restaurants today, and stand a chance of winning a R10 000 V&A shopping spree.

How the public can enter:

  1. By visiting a participating restaurant at the V&A Waterfront.
  2. Find the QR code on the table talker in-store, scan it, and answer a few quick questions about the dining experience.

ARTIST ALLIANCE INTRODUCES THE CREATIVE ALLIES PODCAST

Our Artist Alliance platform is growing! As part of our ongoing commitment to nurturing young creatives in Cape Town, we’ve launched the Creative Allies Podcast – a space for bold conversations with the voices shaping Africa’s creative future.

Podcast hosts: Lerato Sokhulu and Carol Joy Williams.

Hosted by Lerato Sokhulu, a celebrated performer and theatre-maker known for her work in contemporary South African theatre, and Carol Joy Williams, an acclaimed poet, writer, and creative mentor. The podcast invites experienced performers, poets, directors, designers, and more to share their stories as a gesture of allyship to emerging talent. Listeners gain insight and advice on everything from finding funding and developing a practice, to setting boundaries, sustaining a successful freelance career and more.

EVENTS AT THE WATERFRONT:

GROWTHPOINT SA NATIONALS 2025

The 2025 Growthpoint South African National Squash Tournament will be held from 14 to 30 August at the V&A Waterfront’s Makers Landing. Showcasing the country’s top squash players competing for national titles across divisions ranging from U15 to Open Division for both females and males.

SUNSET TANGO AT THE V&A WATERFRONT

Visitors can join us for free outdoor social dancing with DJ Sylvia Westcott, set to the sounds of Argentine Tango, Tango Waltz, and Milonga. This isn’t a performance – it’s an open invitation to join in.

V&A RECORD & MUSIC FAIR

Watershed hosts its regular fair for the musical minded with touches of vintage. Overs over 3 000 vinyl records are waiting to be discovered, as well as a great selection of CDs, music books, band merch, tees and cassettes on sale. There will also be DJs on decks throughout the day!
