10 Mar 2025 Celebrate Ramadan in Cape Town’s most welcoming neighbourhood Ramadan, the Muslim holy month, has begun, and V&A Waterfront Cape Town wishes everyone in our community who is participating in the period of fasting and prayer a Ramadan Kareem. We hope you will join us in praying and sharing a meal together in our friendly neighbourhood. Ramadan at V&A Waterfront Cape Town Waterfront invites you to join us for Iftar, to break your fast, or book now for Eid al-Fitr at a halaal restaurant in Cape Town. We have a dedicated prayer room at the V&A, exceptional clothing and jewellery stores for Eid styles and exquisite gift shops for this special time of year. Waterfront prayer room There is a peaceful prayer facility at the V&A Waterfront that is open 24 hours a day. Anyone is able to use it, as it welcomes both men and women, and also accommodates Jumu’ah Friday prayers from 12:50-13:20 and again from 13:30-13:45. This V&A prayer room is located inside Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre, on the upper level, at the G-Star Raw passage (where the old post office used to be). We want you to enjoy your time at the V&A without having to rush to get to prayers, and there will be dates and water available during the month of Ramadan. Patrons at Saray restaurant can also use the Turkish restaurant’s private prayer room when needed. Cape Town restaurants for Iftar and Eid Bring your family to the Waterfront during Ramadan to enjoy evening meals that make you feel at home. V&A restaurants offer a variety of cuisines for our Muslim visitors to choose from when breaking the fast. The Waterfront has many of the best halaal restaurants and eateries in Cape Town. Enjoy Iftar meals at halaal restaurants such as Saray (Clock Tower), Tasca Mozambique (Makers Landing), Vagabond (Silo District) and Dip n Dip (Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre). Or what about soaking in the cosmopolitan spirit of TimeOut Market Cape Town, where you’ll find halaal food at Kapoochka (also available at Makers Landing) and Barakat. You can also relish in halaal-certified fast food at Steelies, Nandos, KFC, Simply Asia, Anat and Steers at the food court in Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre. These family-friendly meals are always a treat after a day of fasting. The element of community is in full swing here, as visitors dine together in the food court or seated outside at the V&A Amphitheatre. Conscious Carnivores also does delicious takeaways, so you can grab a meal to go as you head home to break your fast. This new Cape Town restaurant and deli at Dock Road Junction has adjusted its trading hours for Ramadan, and is open from 9am to 6pm until the end of March. Plan ahead so that you don’t miss out. And no Iftar is complete without a sweet treat, right? Pop into Makers Landing to take home your favourite dessert delights from The Charming Chef, or delectable chocolate truffles from Afrikoa. Then, come celebrate Eid al-Fitr at V&A Waterfront too. Book your table and invite friends to join for this joyous end-of-Ramadan feast. Modest fashion for Holy Month Shopping for new clothes for Eid al-Fitr is a happy occasion at the V&A Waterfront. There are modest styles to suit every kind of fashion sensibility, and clothing for all types of celebrations. Look to H&M for comfort and We Are EGG for looks that are unique (both situated in Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre). Women shopping at Watershed will find a combo of both these elements at Michelle Ludek – in colours that pop – and in the dreamy bohemian dresses at Asha Eleven. Those seeking the ultimate in luxury fashion in Cape Town will adore the frocks at Alysu in the Silo District. Ramadan gift shopping End the month of Ramadan with gifts that sparkle. Add to a loved one’s Nomination bracelet with a link to mark something you value about them (Nomination store in Victoria Wharf), or find a gem with meaning at Spirit Jewellery (Watershed). At Nom Nom (Vic Wharf) you can create a personalised necklace or bangle, with chains and charms that symbolise your friendship. Gift shopping at Cape Town’s Waterfront is equally fun when on the hunt for decor and homeware. Pop over to AAFRICAA (The Alfred) for vibrant treasures from around the continent, or head to Victoria Wharf’s Carol Boyes store for luxury keepsakes for the table. Woolworths at the Waterfront also never disappoints, with a seasonal selection of flowers and gifts that everyone loves receiving. Speaking of flowers… if it’s a personalised bunch you’re wanting to decorate your Iftar table with, then pay a visit to Mammas Flowers in the foyer of Entrance 9 of the Waterfront’s Victoria Wharf – for floral bouquets, flower boxes and more. At Caroline Fine Flowers (inside Vic Wharf), you’ll discover even more luxurious blooms – from orchids to proteas and sweet-smelling single stems. Ramadan dates 2025 This year Ramadan is expected to conclude on Sunday 30 March 2025, subject to the official moon sighting. Cape Town Waterfront wishes its Muslim community – from Cape Town and around the world – a blessed, joyful and harmonious month. May this time of self-reflection bring you gratitude as you reset and reconnect.
