As the winning band, Early Hours has won two full studio sessions with the Heritage Sound Recording Studio and the opportunity to work with SAMA- award winning engineer Rusti Rossouw to record their single. This is valued at R 10 000.

It doesn’t end there. They will be included in the line-up to perform as the opening act at the V&A Waterfront’s New Year’s Eve festivities. “We believe that “Take the Stage” is a great platform for up and coming young musicians and it is a great opportunity to showcase new talent to our visitors,” commented Carla White, spokesperson for the V&A Waterfront. “We were impressed with the depth of talent we saw in all the finalists, and congratulate Early Hours on a worthy win.” Marshall Music’s, Graham Lowndes said: “The variety of talent on display during the competition was superb this year.

The general standard of the bands was higher than before and the winning band, Early Hours, are a young band, that scored highly in the 2 judging criteria; musicality and presentation. However, I also thought they displayed great presence on stage and were not afraid to perform. Their original songs were good, a nice fresh sound that retains the “party vibe” while avoiding sounding like some of the more profiled bands playing South Africa’s venues at the moment.”

Early Hours are based in Cape Town and list their influences as Artic Monkeys, Two Door Cinema Club and Coldplay, with their music described as a as a blend of those bands.

Watch out for their performance at the V&A Waterfront’s New Year’s Eve concert which takes place on a custom built stage in a new location this year.
