At the Research Unit the emphasis is on designing luxury leather goods for the modern lifestyle that are clean, utilitarian and made to last. This is why RU only makes products they would use themselves, and also why they offer a 10-year guarantee on all their work. Products range from the flagship billfold to the Scoutpack with the detachable Notebook inner. All RU products are 100% South African and the carefully sourced leather is hand-dyed, giving it a rich, deep colour. After the cutting process, the pieces are saddle-stitched for maximum strength and quality. The aim is to combine the very best elements of ancient leather craftsmanship with modern technology and design sensibilities, to create authentic products that are built to last for generations.
