Crates Of Beauty is a slow commerce furniture and home decor collective based in Joostenbergvlakte, Cape Town. All our artisans weave locally on site, and we proudly manufacture 100% locally in South Africa from design to finish. Our latest collection is a slow rollout of our own woven takes on ndebele classics, and a lighting range of ilala, raffia, and bamboo pendants. Calming beauty in full harmony. It is our goal to continue to empower local weavers and strive for excellence in 2024.
From creating our own unique designs to hand selected sustainable natural materials, to each piece being hand woven by our skilled artisans on location at our workshop between Durbanville and Stellenbosh, we make local. Our frames for our lighting range is created from precision engineered, stainless steel in the Cape, and every aspect of the process embraces slow commerce with elevated attention to detail. Our weavers are from the local Joostenbergvlakte area and we place a strong emphasis on local design, sustainable manufacturing, skill share, and empowerment of the local economy and talent.
