Chavonnes Battery

Built in 1714-1725 by the Dutch East India Company, the Chavonnes Battery was designed to help protect the Cape. During the development of the Clock Tower Precinct a portion of the Chavonnes Battery was uncovered. Today part of the ruins is open to the general public.
