14 Apr 2022 The long Easter weekend brings delectable treats, astonishing chocolate creations, and the Easter Bunny – what’s not to love about the sweetest holiday of the year (yes, it’s even sweeter than Valentine’s Day!)? The V&A team can’t wait to welcome you to the Waterfront for some Easter-themed fun and games. From Easter Egg Hunts to baking masterclasses, there’s something for everyone with a sweet tooth – and even if you don’t celebrate Easter, you’re never far from good food and entertainment at Cape Town’s favourite playground. It’s delish! Foodies will delight in a series of demo classes and workshops at Makers Landing, a food destination that nurtures small businesses. Make a day of it with family, friends and holiday flavours! The Charming Chef, who is well known for whimsical desserts and curated events, is holding two classes for junior chefs aged from 5 to 10 years old. These take place at 11h00 on 16 and 17 April 2022 – kids can learn how to bake delectable Easter Egg Basket cupcakes. Easter-inspired kids cooking classes will continue until 24 April 2022, so don’t despair if you can’t make the weekend classes. Book your spot here. Don’t miss the Sweet LionHeart Easter bun-bun décor “sesh” on 14 April 2022, from 18h00-20h00. You can also learn how to make a fluffy Easter Bun cake, which sounds wonderfully decadent. Tea-time treats If high tea is one of the thrills in your life, you’ll adore the Cotton Tails & Candy edition afternoon tea at the One&Only’s Vista Bar and Lounge. Fun and games include egg smashing, a live pianist, hanging out with the Easter Bunny, and sampling sweet pastries, savoury bites, and Easter-inspired nibbles. Cotton Tails & Candy high teas are held from 14h00-17h00 daily, from 15-18 April 2022. Book now to secure your seat (with a view of Table Mountain second to none). Restaurant spoils Head over to Ochre, the signature restaurant at the popular One&Only Cape Town, for a three-course Easter Sunday lunch. While you enjoy your harvest-table feast, let the kids decorate Easter eggs, enjoy music and a magic show, and take selfies with the Easter Bunny, who makes a special guest appearance (he’s a very busy bunny this weekend!). Book ahead for this fanciful feast, which takes place from 13h00-15h00 on 17 April 2022, here. Nobu is also offering an Easter-themed dining experience – a special Easter Omakase set menu featuring Japanese-Peruvian cuisine. Running from 18h00-22h00 daily, from 15 to 18 April 2022, expect a unique twist on the chef’s selection of sushi, tempura and Nobu’s signature dishes (or dine à la carte if you prefer). Easter playtime All that sugar’s bound to give you and the kids some extra energy, so why not try some of the V&A’s activity pursuits, like the Rollercade at Battery Park, cave golf at the Scratch Patch, and PlayDate SuperPark, an indoor adventure park for all ages at the Watershed? Don’t miss the vibrant V&A Kids Market, held from 09h00-14h00 on 16 and 17 April 2022 in the Centre Court, which will showcase a range of tasty and creative goodies produced by young entrepreneurs. Come along for some home-baked and handmade specials (you can pay with cash or by card).
