New flagship stores for luxury shopping in Cape Town

Cape Town's Luxury Shopping Scene Expands at the V&A Waterfront
At the V&A Waterfront, we’ve always understood that luxury retail is as much theatre as commerce, and our luxury wing expansion raises the curtain on our most ambitious set yet.
A carved wooden façade referencing Epi leather now marks the entrance to one of the continent's largest Louis Vuitton stores. Behind it, a private garden overlooks the Victoria Basin. Navigating this expanded footprint requires a curated approach to maximise the luxury shopping experience.
The Expanded Luxury Retail Wing at the V&A Waterfront
The luxury retail houses were once scattered across different corners of our neighbourhood, easy to miss between appointments. Now, high-end names have a dedicated wing, doubling the space each house has to work with. The walk from Louis Vuitton to Gucci, followed by a dinner reservation, is just a short meander, making it feel less like a mall shopping trip and more like a curated experience.
Louis Vuitton's Flagship Victoria Wharf Boutique
Louis Vuitton sets the tone. Its new Victoria Wharf boutique is nearly double the size of the previous stores, making it one of the label's largest footprints in Africa. Inside, handcrafted Japanese wallpaper and bespoke oak furnishings frame the men's and women's collections. Meanwhile, the Winter Garden, a private appointment space overlooking the harbour, pairs archival trunks and pieces from the Objets Nomades collection with furniture by South African brand Weylandts and artwork by Namibian artist Nicky Marais. Book a slot in the Winter Garden, and the shopping trip becomes an occasion in itself.
Global Designer Brands: Gucci, Dior, and Versace
Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana are relocating into the same expanded wing, doubling their existing store sizes, while Burberry continues to anchor the Quays District's designer row. Christian Dior got there first, moving into a significantly larger store to sit alongside its existing beauty boutique on the upper level, an early sign of the wing's ambitions. Versace joined the lineup with a boutique built around marble surfaces and bold metal detailing; a space that photographs as well as the clothes it holds. For those seeking exclusive early access to new collections, this stretch of the Waterfront represents the peak of Cape Town’s designer retail sector. New names are still being added to the wing, which means the story here is just beginning.
Curated Luxury Shopping Experiences in Cape Town
More than larger stores, the new wing is designed for a slower, more considered shopping experience. Private appointments in the Louis Vuitton Winter Garden, locally commissioned art on the walls of the French maison and harbour views built into the fitting room experience. These are details you'll appreciate for how they look, but also for the shopping experience, whether that's between meetings or on your way to a gallery opening and dinner at one of our top restaurants, where your outfit sets the tone.
Dining pairings
PIER and The Waterside Restaurant, both part of the globally-awarded La Colombe stable, provide exceptional culinary experiences. PIER offers a multi-course seafood experience with harbour views, and at Waterside Restaurant you’ll experience a visual art experience on a plat, with taste to match. They’re both just a short walk from the new luxury wing.
Harbour House remains a V&A Waterfront classic for seafood with a Mediterranean twist and suits both formal occasions and a more relaxed mood, while Marble brings its signature open-fire cooking to the precinct's growing list of destination tables. Wherever the evening lands, the new wing makes the walk there the best part of getting dressed.
This is the biggest concentration of luxury retail the V&A Waterfront has ever had, and it's still growing.
