For over 30 years, Cape Town’s Waterfront has been supporting local art, design and performance initiatives, honouring the rich history of the arts that exist right here on our shore.

Our Waterfront is where artists are supported and encouraged to thrive in a creative economy that values culture. It’s here that nearly 10 museums and galleries bring contemporary African ideas to the fore, while honouring the rich history of an eclectic nation. Discover some of these exciting venues:

Contemporary art from the Africa continent has found its home in this ground-breaking architectural masterpiece – a historic grain silo reimagined by Thomas Heatherwick. View exhibitions that challenge societal norms and inspire dialogue in the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa.

Southern Guild
As the foremost gallery of collectable African design, Southern Guild offers the continent’s most exclusive furniture, ceramics and other highly crafted items. It now also represents some of the most exciting artists from Africa. Experience world-class curation and alluring works.

SA Art Collection
The V&A Waterfront’s SA Art Collection offers a comprehensive overview of the country’s diverse artistic landscape. Get a closer look at paintings, sculptures, photographs and more, while engaging with artists’ unique perspectives and the social and political issues they address.

Robben Island Museum

Nelson Mandela Gateway Museum
