A groundbreaking pan-African museum dedicated to contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora. Cathedral-like spaces, rotating exhibitions, a rooftop terrace and 270-degree views of Table Mountain.
Housed in a reimagined grain silo, the cathedral-like atrium, scenic elevators, and custom-designed gallery spaces create an environment where the architecture and art exist in constant conversation.
The museum produces cutting-edge exhibitions, supports emerging Cape Town-based artists through the Atelier project space, and runs education programmes through the BMW Centre for Art Education.
The sixth-floor Rooftop Terrace and Ocular Lounge offer 270-degree views of Table Mountain, the harbour and city. The museum shop is worth a visit, too.

Planning your visit
Entry is via the Silo District, a short walk from the Watershed. Tickets are available at the door or online, with free entry for under-18s and on the first Friday morning of each month for South African residents.
The museum is fully wheelchair accessible, with lift access to every floor. Photography is welcome in most galleries — look for signage on loaned works.
