Founded in 2004 by Sébastien Kopp and François-Ghislain Morillion, VEJA is a French company built on a simple idea: making sneakers differently by combining social projects, economic justice, and ecological materials. Designed in France and made in Brazil and Portugal, VEJA sneakers are crafted using organic and agroecological cotton, wild rubber from the Amazon, traceable and organic leather, and recycled PET. The company develops long-term partnerships with farmers and producers, working side by side to improve working and living conditions. VEJA purchases its raw materials at prices that can reach up to five times the market rate. By choosing not to invest in advertising, the brand reinvests directly in the field and in the people behind each pair. Over the years, VEJA has expanded beyond lifestyle sneakers to include sandals, slides, and performance models. The Condor 3 Advanced received an ISPO Award, recognized as one of the industry’s most responsible and high-performing products. In 2020, VEJA launched the Cobbler Project. Observing that most shoes are discarded while still wearable – and that the number of cobblers worldwide continues to decline – the brand decided to act. VEJA opened cobbler stations inside its stores, as well as the VEJA General Store: a repair-focused space where customers can bring worn-out shoes and clothes for repair, and find products designed to extend the life of what they already own. In five years, across 11 cobbler stations, VEJA has repaired more than 60,000 pairs of sneakers and shoes from any brand. Today, VEJA employs 600 people worldwide. The brand is distributed in more than 100 countries and works with over 4,000 retailers.
