Granger Bay

A new stretch of Cape Town’s Atlantic coastline is being opened up to the city. Over the next 15 to 20 years, this R20 billion-plus development will bring new homes, hotels, jobs, public space and a protected bay for swimming, kayaking and boating. A 540-metre seawall will help protect the coastline, while a new coastal walkway will connect the V&A directly to the Sea Point promenade.

The Shimansky Diamond Experience at the Cape Town Diamond Museum covers the history of South Africa’s diamond trade, replicas of the world’s most famous gems, live manufacturing, and an opulent jewellery showroom. Bookings essential.

The Cape Town Diamond Museum, at the top of the Clock Tower Centre, is the starting point of the Shimansky Diamond Experience. Authentic artefacts trace the history of the diamond industry and South Africa’s role in it. Magnificent replicas of the world’s most famous gems, including the Cullinan, the Hope, the Taylor-Burton, and more, are on display along with insights into cutting, polishing, and the master craftsmanship that goes into every Shimansky piece.

The 45-minute multilingual guided tour is available for individuals and groups. An on-site manufacturing workshop, jewellery showroom and factory complete the experience.
