V&A welcomes Minister of Tourism, Patricia de Lille


This past Tuesday, 9 September, we had the privilege of hosting the Minister of Tourism, Patricia de Lille, at the V&A Waterfront.
During her visit, our CEO, David Green, shared early discussions on the potential R20 billion Granger Bay development and unveiled a model showcasing the vision for our precinct’s last remaining undeveloped area.
The Arrival of the World Marks the Opening of 2025/26 Cruise Season

The 2025/26 cruise season has officially started with the arrival of The World earlier this week. This follows international recognition for the terminal which was recently ranked 12th among the world’s most beautiful cruise ports in a global study by travel insurance specialist, All Clear.

Over the coming months, more than 70 vessels are scheduled to call at the Cape Town Cruise Terminal, including major international liners such as the Queen Mary 2, MS Europa, MSC Magnifica and domestically, MSC Opera. The upcoming season is expected to generate wide economic benefits, particularly for Cape Town’s tourism, hospitality, and retail sectors.
Dewald Van Niekerk Claims Fifth Consecutive Growthpoint Squash Title

Last month, Makers Landing hosted the annual Growthpoint South African Squash Nationals, which concluded 30 August. We’re proud to celebrate the exceptional sportsmen and women who emerged victorious after a month-long tournament.

In the men’s final, Dewald van Niekerk made history by claiming his fifth consecutive national title, surpassing Steve Coppinger’s record of four wins in a row. In the women’s final, Alex Commins, captured her sixth national crown – an impressive feat after retiring from the professional tour two years ago.

In the junior division, the girls’ under-15 title went to Rylee Howells, while Ashton Burger earned the boys’ under-15 title.
What’s on This September at the Waterfront

Spring has arrived, bringing brighter skies, warmer days, and a fresh energy to our neighbourhood. This September, we have an exciting line-up of events for visitors to enjoy – from silent discos and live music to heritage celebrations, dancing, food experiences, and so much more.
Silent Disco Fitness:

Every Friday evening this month, silent disco fitness sessions will be held across the neighbourhood, offering a fun and energising way to kickstart the weekend. Grab your friends, put on your headsets and get ready to move.
