Discover Granger Bay

A new stretch of Cape Town’s Atlantic coastline is being opened up to the city. Over the next 15 to 20 years, this R20 billion-plus development will bring new homes, hotels, jobs, public space and a protected bay for swimming, kayaking and boating. A 540-metre seawall will help protect the coastline, while a new coastal walkway will connect the V&A directly to the Sea Point promenade.

By John Designs is a proudly South African brand, locally made and obsessed with colour, creativity and making people smile.

Before launching By John Designs, I worked as an Art Director in Cape Town’s film industry, creating visually striking sets. When the pandemic hit, both my creative work and my dad’s event manufacturing business came to a halt.

During a visit to his factory, I saw an opportunity to repurpose the machines and skills to create beautiful, joyful pieces for people’s homes.
