Easter 2024 is no exception. We’ve lined up everything from free performances and outdoor movies to a cool kids’ market and groovy record fair. Join us for these family-friendly Cape Town events this Easter weekend at the V&A Waterfront from 29-31 March 2024. Neighbourhood Artist Auditions Artists from all realms of performance will be auditioning to become part of our supportive busker programme, gaining the opportunity to perform to our V&A Waterfront visitors throughout the year. Join us for free and enjoy musicians, choirs, dancers, poets, circus and balancing acts, magicians and a host of other local entertainers over the course of the two-day audition process. The artists who make it through will have access to the V&A’s busking sites, as well as our business-development and mentorship initiatives. Interested performance artists can apply to audition. 29 + 31 March 12 – 4pm Amphitheatre FREE V&A Record & Vinyl Fair – Easter Edition Saturday and Sunday are for the music you’ve been longing for! The two-day Easter edition of the V&A Record & Vinyl Fair promises to bring you some banging live DJ tracks as you sift through more than 6,000 top-notch vinyl records from over 30 traders. Get your hands on wish-list music memorabilia, including band merch and cassettes. 30 + 31 March 10am – 2pm Watershed, Upper Level FREE ENTRY V&A Kids’ Market – Easter Edition Shop for the niftiest gifts, gadgets and delicious snacks made by children at the much anticipated Kids’ Market. Young entrepreneurs will be showing off their business skills while selling truly home-made products. Get involved and support these eager market vendors. Kids who still want to apply can do so here. 30 + 31 March 10am – 2pm Victoria Wharf, Centre Court (outside H&M) FREE ENTRY Galileo Open Air Cinema Soak up the evening on Easter Sunday by heading to Battery Park for the screening of Shrek 2. The next day is a public holiday, so bring the whole family to enjoy our scenic lawns and have a good laugh together. 31 March Gates open 5pm; film starts 7:30pm Battery Park BOOK TICKETS Kung Fu Panda Activation Meet Kung Fu Panda’s Ping Xiao Po and have your picture snapped together. 30 March 10:30am – 1pm Amphitheatre FREE Karien de Waal presents: Join Bands Not Gangs Easter Concert Join Bands Not Gangs is a non-profit that uses music to help fight gangsterism in the Cape Flats and beyond. The organisation’s Mentors Band will be performing on Easter Saturday, alongside the gospel-vocal style Friendship Choir. Their performance will be preceded by the opening act: Heatherley Court Youth Band, made up of 12-to-15-year-old learners. It promises to be an hour of pure musical indulgence. 30 March 2:30 – 3:30pm Amphitheatre FREE Perfect Fifth SA Perfect Fifth SA stole the show in our Take the Stage series, so we’re bringing them back for a special Easter performance. The band that was formed in 2015, when its members were still school kids, continues to inspire the community, especially the youth, showing them that dreams really do come true. Perfect Fifth consists of Alex van As, Harry Kangeza, Ryan Nolan, David Jacobs and Samuel Frans. 30 March 5 – 6pm Amphitheatre FREE Easter Bunny Photo Op Get your photo taken with the Easter Bunny and their helpers… it’s the annual photo op at the V&A Waterfront. You’ll probably score an Easter egg too! 29 + 30 March 12 – 4pm Between Victoria Wharf Centre Court and Amphitheatre FREE Face Painting – Easter Edition Keep kids happily entertained as they have their faces painted in a colourful and joyful Easter theme. 29 – 31 March 10am – 4pm Alongside Amphitheatre FREE V&A Family Egg-scape Join us for a thrilling Easter adventure in collaboration with Adventure Works. Register to take part on one of the sessions in this exciting family-friendly day filled with team challenges and lawn games. You’ll get to try your hand at Giant Scrabble, Giant Jenga, boule, croquet and badminton.
