The V&A Waterfront business strategy started with a question: where do our commercial interests intersect with the social and environmental challenges around us? And what happens if we engage seriously?
The answer became the foundation for everything we do here. A business that works at that intersection doesn't choose between profit and purpose; it finds that one advances the other. Opportunity, sustainability, and inclusivity are not trade-offs against commercial success; they are the conditions for it.
The V&A Waterfront is 50% owned by Growthpoint Properties and 50% by the Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF), represented by the Public Investment Corporation (PIC). The board they have appointed sets the strategic direction for one of the most complex mixed-use precincts on the continent.

The V&A Waterfront is more than a destination; it’s a living, working community. It brings together historic landmarks, economic activity and a sense of belonging, all in one neighbourhood. Where business interests meet social and environmental challenges, the V&A doesn't look away, it gets to work.

Every person who comes here matters, from locals and school groups to first-time visitors and superyacht guests. We’re committed to creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all.

The V&A Waterfront operates as a working model for inclusive urban development. At a scale large enough to confront complex city challenges, yet agile enough to test new approaches.

Carbon neutrality by 2035, 50 000 small businesses positively impacted by 2030, and affordable housing integrated into the neighbourhood. We are committed to these outcomes.
