The port of Cape Town has served as a harbour to all kinds of shipping for centuries.
The V&A Waterfront Yacht Office provides the necessary log book signing services to sailing boats entering and returning to the V&A Marina. This office also provides monthly tide information and clearance letters to crew members who have to report to Customs and Immigration of the Transnet Port Authority.
The Marina is managed by Cape Town Port Control monitors, which monitors all shipping movements and maritime activity in the harbour, and grants permission to leave or enter the harbour. They can also be requested to open the Swing Bridge or to lift the Bascule Bridge.
