All-women Indian naval crew to sail into Cape Town tomorrow

The all-female crew of the Indian Naval ship INSV Tarini are on route to Cape Town from Port Stanley in the Falklands, in what is the third leg of their maiden voyage to circumnavigate the world. The naval team is expected to arrive at the V&A Waterfront tomorrow, Friday 2 March, from approximately 10am.


The crew are still on course to make history by becoming the first Indian and Asian women in the world to achieve this feat, while the Indian Navy will become the first military operation in the world to have women completing a circumnavigation.


Local yachts will welcome the INSV Tarini’s arrival in Table Bay, after which the crew will dock at the Two Oceans Aquarium in the V&A Waterfront’s North Wharf to be welcomed by the Mayor of Cape Town and other dignitaries. They will be moored at the royal Cape Yacht Club until their departure on Wednesday, 14 March.
