Busking is performance art that takes place on the street for voluntary donations – and is practiced all over the world. Contributing to the vibrant atmosphere, it has been an integral part of the V&A Waterfront since inception, some 30 years ago.
At The V&A Waterfront however, the busking programme is more than just performing for tips. It is an entrepreneurship development and incubation programme, focused on all types of performers; from musicians and magicians, to freestyle footballers and mime’s alike. The main goal of the programme is to create a platform for young performers to develop their craft and become successful entrepreneurs.
Buskers here are provided with workshops throughout the year, focusing on finance, marketing, the arts industry as well as master classes.Buskers are also able to apply for funding for education and international travel.Additionally, we’ve established a mentorship and coaching programme that provides performers with access to industry experts to guide them on their path to growth.
